Thassos Camping – Review of Golden Beach Camping in Thassos

Since we’re independent travelers, we wanted to try a different kind of experience in Thassos.

The camping experience.

We hadn’t booked any accommodations in advance; we’d just read a little about the campgrounds on Thassos.

Since we arrived on the island after 9:00 p.m. on the first night, we stayed in a villa, planning to look for a nice campground the next day.

And that’s what I did.

So, we arrived at Golden Beach Camping in Skala Panagia.

And it was the best choice.

Thassos Golden Beach Camping – Description

Thassos Golden Beach Campground is a very spacious and well-organized campground located right next to the beach. I thought it was a great option if you want to stay close to the sea and have everything within easy reach. The site is spacious, open, and suitable for both tents and RVs.

The campground is run by the city government, and you can tell it’s well maintained. Everything is very clean, from the common areas to the walkways and campsites. The fact that you step right out onto Golden Beach makes it even more enjoyable, especially in the morning, when you can reach the beach in just a few minutes.

Amenities at Golden Beach Thassos Camping

We chose to stay at Golden Beach Campground because it seemed airy, with plenty of natural shade, and very quiet.

It has clearly marked areas for RVs and tents. The tent area is very spacious, so there’s plenty of room between the tents and you don’t feel cramped.

Each camping site has an electrical outlet, which we found particularly useful. There are also shared showers and restrooms, but they’re very well maintained. In terms of cleanliness, they’re excellent.

In addition, there are several kitchens equipped with refrigerators and freezers, where we kept our food and drinks cold.

In the reception area, there is a lounge with a TV and a bar, where you can spend long summer evenings.

There is also a washing machine and a dryer.

All in all, you have everything you need for a very enjoyable camping experience.

Must-Do Activities in Thassos

Golden Beach Camping Thassos prices for 2026

The maximum price per person in July is 7.2 euros per night. You can park your car indoors for 4.7 euros per night.

And the fee for camping in a tent is 6 euros per night.

So, the maximum price per night for a couple with a car parked indoors (which we recommend) is 25 euros.

It’s probably the lowest price for a place to stay in Thassos, and you get to sleep under 1,000 stars 😀

Why would we choose a camping in Thassos again?

Of course, there’s no accounting for taste.

There are people who prefer comfort, which is perfectly normal.

We, too, have vacations where we prefer a hotel room with all amenities included.

But we also enjoy camping trips—vacations where we do lots of outdoor activities.

We would always choose to return to a campground in Thassos because you can enjoy nature, peace and quiet, moments of reflection, and a chance to unwind.

The Golden Beach campground is a great option. It’s exceptionally clean and has all the necessary amenities.
